Sunset over Poppy Field

Our fallen heroes—forever remembered, never forgotten.

Poppy Princess

Each year before the Friday before Memorial Day, the American Legion Auxiliary distributes the red poppy flower in exchange for donations that go to support veterans and active-duty military. The poppy flower is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn to honor those who served in all wars and died for our freedom and our country.

Each year, a Poppy Princess is chosen to participate in the Memorial Day Parades. The Poppy Princess also collects donations and aids in the distribution of the poppy flowers to the community.

Red Poppy

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

~ John McCrae
